Do my files ever leave my device?
Never — in the web app, all conversion happens inside your browser tab using a Web Worker. No file content is uploaded to any server. The server only handles license issuance after purchase.
How does the 7-day trial work?
Your trial starts the moment you run your first conversion. You get full access — all sources, all export formats, no limits — for 7 days. No credit card is required to start.
What happens to my converted files if my license expires?
Nothing — files you've already converted are yours and are stored locally. An expired license only prevents future conversions; it never locks or deletes anything you've already produced.
Does the "forever" license really cover all future versions?
Yes, unconditionally. Every license we issue stamps versionScope: "all-versions" and there is no version-checking code path anywhere in the software. You will never be asked to pay again to use a newer version.
How do I activate my license?
After purchase, Lemon Squeezy emails you a signed license file (.freenext-license.json). Drop it into the app settings panel or pass it via the CLI with freenext --license path/to/file.json. No internet connection required to verify it.
Can I self-host for free?
The 7-day trial applies to self-hosted instances too. After that, the self-hosted plans above are discounted to reflect that you're providing your own infrastructure.
